Kingston memory or unbranded memory

I am looking to built a customized laptop from different websites so that I can get it at some cheap rates. The only problem that I am facing to build this laptop from different website is concerning with RAM or memory. I am looking to buy atleast 8GB RAM. I have been looking at a 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at or else 8GB Kingston HyperX CL9 Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM. Can anyone tell me whether it will be a good idea to spend an extra dollars on the Kingston branded ram? What type of different is there between both the RAM modules? Thanks

It will be a good idea to go for the branded RAMs only because they all come from only a couple of manufacturer's before they go to aftermarket, so the price difference is not worth it since they are all the same really. But still it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and from build shop to shop. You can try to get the exact information about the model and specs of the RAM by googling the manufacturer and the laptop model to find something easily.

I think that it might be possible that the unbranded RAM doesnt has any kind of warranty where else all branded RAM carry 2-3 years warranty. So, even if no physical damage is done with the unbranded RAM then you will have to bear its charges. There wont be much performance difference between both the RAM modules and both might have the same clock speed as well. So, it is upto you to choose which side you would want to go for.

I will suggest you to first compare the cost of the branded RAM to the cost of upgradng the RAM after purchase, like choosing for the lowest cost RAM option and then replacing it later. If there is any costing issue then you could choose the lower grade of RAMs. You wont throw much out since both RAM would be identical. You can first of all test with the unbranded RAM first and if they fail in the future then you can eventually go with the branded RAM.
