Gigabyte GA-G41M wont boot with kingston 4gb ram kvr13n9s8/4

I am using an year old motherboard called Gigabyte GA-G41M with 2gb RAM that was working fine. I was looking to upgrade RAM in this motherboard so I bought kingston 4gb ram kvr13n9s8/4. But after inserting it in the motherboard the pc wont boot at all? Does anyone know if this RAM is compatible with my motherboard or not? Thanks

Well, have you tried to boot the pc with 4gb RAM itself leaving the 2gb RAM outside of the board? I can see that you motherboard supports both DDR2 and DDR3 memory, so there should not be any issue with the RAM compatability. I guess it might be that either you use DDR3 RAMs only or DDR2 RAMs only for the pc to boot.

Yes, even I believe that using different mhz ram might not be a good idea. So the first thing you can do is get a set of 2 sticks of RAM from a single manufacturer and use that in your motherboard. By mixing the RAM from different manufacturer's there are sometimes that this problem happens, so it is always advisable to get the same brand only.

What ever said above is true and also it does not only matters of the size of the RAM but it also matters on the timing, speed and voltage of the RAM that should be the same. Can you tell us what is the old make and model of the RAM that you are using? Sometimes if there are memory problems then you can also test to make sure that the RAM doesnt give any type of error, test it with memtest86.
