slow read problem with Kingston SSDNOW v300

I recently purchased a brand new Asus motherboard and also a Kingston SSDNow v300 with 550watt power supply and 4gb or ram. The processor that I am using is Core i3. After setting up the pc, I tried to test the SSD with the SSD Benchmark tools and I noticed that it was giving very low read speed of 170mbps only. Dont you think that this is very low because I have seen people getting 450mbps on read?

Which Asus motherboard model do you have? If it is Z87 type of board then you should have the same 6gbs/ for all Sata ports, so try to attach the Kingston SSDNOW v300 to another Sata port and then do the testing again. You should actually connecy the SSD to the port SATA6G_1 to get better results. Then try to test with multiple benchmarking tools.

Well, can you try to go to Device Manager in Windows and then click on Disk Drives. After that right click on the SSD that you are using and then choose Properties. After that click on the Policies tab. Now you will need to uncheck "Enable write caching on the device" option if it is already checked and then click ok and then check it again and click ok. Now try to run the benchmark and see if it gives proper results.

Even I had a problem with the SSD and it seems that the SSD itself was bad and not my computer. So I exchanged the SSD for a different one and the new SSD was giving me 400+ mbps read speed after testing it in the benchmarking tool. One thing I noticed that this new SSD was having a new firmware F1, so perhaps you could try to update firmware and check if that works.
