Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu

I cannot launch any Office application from Start Menu. I am using Windows Vista. When I try to launch the same I am getting a error that the program take too long to respond. It is happening for all Excel, Word or Outlook. It is a new Office 2007 setup. Now does Office connects to internet and get some updates. If yes then I do not have a active connection and does due to that it is freezing. I do not want to destroy my files here. I had preformed Office Diagnostic. But it showed that there is no issue with Office 2007. How that can be possible.

If a application takes too much time to respond then the issue mostly lies with some internal files. Vista tries to terminate the same automatically. Do you have enough memory and disk space in your system. Instead of running diagnostic run a repair setup. I hope you have the installation disc with you. Simple insert that and run a Repair setup and then wait back for sometime. Once it is done restart your pc and then try to relaunch it.

I have the same issue also!

If I switch the menu back to classic then it all works OK.

Also if i turn off UAC it all works OK. So UAC is off until we get it working.

Re: Office 2007 programs will not open from Vista Start menu

I had this problem too - came up with suitable answer THAT WORKS!!!

    1) Remove all Office 2007 items pinned to Start menu.

    2) Open "Computer" click on "C:" drive and open "Program Files"

    3) Scroll down to "Microsoft Office" and OPEN

    4) Open the folder holding all the generic office items (on my system this is named "Office12" - this is the MS name version)

    5) Find each Office program you need on the pinned menu - and individually right-click and click "Pin to Start menu".
EXCEL will be the first one??? N.B. Only pin those with the MS Office symbol for that program, i.e. EXCEL = green document with an 'X' on, each should be an "Application" ENSURE U DON'T OPEN THE ONE WITH THE COLOURFUL WINDOWS ICON - won't matter but you'll have to repeat the correct process!
Make sure the following names are correct: (all capitals)
    - EXCEL
    - POWERPNT
    - WINWORD

(they're the only ones I need!)

Then go to Start menu - click on each and check works. They do for me!

Then you can right-click each and Rename, to your hearts content!!!

    They should each now open!

    happiness all around???

    ;)
