Should selfie sticks be banned?

As the selfie craze sweeps the world,a growing number of global tourist attractions are banning the sticks used to take the smartphone photes because of safety concerns.
As for me, selfie sticks are useful and interesting because you don;t have to ask strangers to take your picture, and unlike hand-held selfies, you can capture a wider view without showing your arm.But some people find selfie sticks obnoxious,arguing that they detract from the travel experience.
Have you ever used the selfie stick? What is your opinion about it?

Yeah, it is convenient and interesting, but I have to admit that, at some tourist spots, like museums, it risks breaking the precious items, or at some crowded viewsites, it may hurt tourists.
