    Where is World’s biggest database storage systems

    I am studying database management and was reading about database storage systems and how they work. I wanted to know which is the world’s Biggest Database storage systems. I think it will be Google as one can find answer to almost every practical query.

    Google is not the biggest database storage system. Though it provides solution to almost every kind of query it is not the biggest.

    The biggest Database storage system in world is Library of Congress in Washington D.C., united states of America. Though it does not contain digital media, the printed media, that is Newspapers, books, catalogs, pamphlets, technical reports and many more create a databse of 20 terabytes of text data.

    The library is not accessible to general public. It is accessible only to government Officials of U.S. government, Supreme Court justices, Members of Congress, the staff members working for the library and certain amount of people who have valid reader Identification card.

    In numbers, the data in Library of Congress holds data of,
    1. 130 million items (books, photographs, maps, etc)
    2. 29 million books
    3. 10,000 new items added each day
    4. 530 miles of shelves
    5. 5 million digital documents
    6. 20 terabytes of text data
