    sets of confusing English words

    I am staring this thread to share the sets of confusing English words. You should first post the word and after that meaning, Antonym, Synonym, usage of word in a sentence. Please reply it will be fun to share many words. Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    • Sacrilege- violation or profanation of anything sacred or held sacred. Synonyms- blasphemy, Violation, mocker, offense
    • Sacrosanct- extremely sacred or inviolable: a sacrosanct chamber in the temple
    • Synonyms – religious, spiritual, hallowed, blessed
    • Sacrament- the consecrated elements of the Eucharist, especially the bread
    • Synonyms- confirmation, celebration, confession

    Accomplice- a person who knowingly helps another in a crime or wrongdoing, often as a subordinate.
    Accomplish- to bring to its goal or conclusion, perform, to accomplish one's mission.
    Accomplished – completed, done, effected, an accomplished fact.

    • Oppress: to burden with cruel or unjust impositions or restraints; subject to a burdensome or harsh exercise of authority or power: a people oppressed by totalitarianism
    • Synonyms- dishearten, Overpower, overthrow
    • Repress: to press again or anew
    • Synonyms- overpower, subjugate, overcome

    • Baleful: full of menacing or malign influences; pernicious.
    • Synonyms: harmful, malign and injurious.
    • Baneful: deadly; poisonous: baneful herbs.
    • Synonyms- venomous and toxic.
