Hey, I have a 15 year old windows 95 laptop and amazingly I haven't had one problem with it until a week ago. I just started getting a no boot device error message on this DELL computer and I have irreplaceable files on it what shall I do, please help.
PS : this computer has been in daily use since I bought it so I expected it to die any day.Because of this, I backed up my files to a CD a while ago but when I went to go get it, after I encountered this problem, to upload the files to my 98 SE machine the CD somehow got cracked inside its case while it was in my computer box.
You could connect the hard drive to an external device that allows it to be read like an external hard drive and extract the files that way. You do this by removing the hard drive from the laptop and connecting it to the device then plugging the device into the usb port of another machine. The laptop hard drive should read like an external device and allow you to view the files in it. If it does not then you'll have to get it extracted by a company for a fee usually around 60 dollars.
