The terms "social networks" and "social networking" have become very popular. But what I'd like to know is What exactly is "Social Networking?" and "How do you define it--what qualifies a site as a "Social Network"?

The network based on the social society where people could share there feelings and their experience with each other, are connected to each other with different nodes is named as the Social Network.
Social network analysis views social relationships in terms of network theory consisting of nodes and ties. A social network is a map of all of the relevant ties between all the nodes being studied.

Social networking is a place where you need to create an account to join the site. It is basically used to stay in touch of your friends and family. The best example of it is Facebook. There are lot of applications which you can install in your account and use them, such as videos, games and many more!

The exact meaning of social is how we deal with people in day to day life and how we interact with them . The same goes with social networking except the fact we meet people through websites called social networking meant for this purpose like Orkut,FaceBook and Twitter.

Social networking means how we interact with the people in our day to day life. Social networking sites like orkut, facebook and twitter on which we have many friends from all around the world and we can share our views with them.
Social network will help companies improve brand and product awareness in order to increase traffic, website, and then create awareness, the company exists. This is an advertising medium, so what is free for everyone to hold back the use of it? So that is why the network will always play a key role in daily operations.
I think, Social Networking is a place or platform for people to share their feelings, ideas and other things.
