IF YOU CAN'T Convince THEM ...
CONFUSE THEM ...
James Cameron's "The Titanic" (1997) earned 14 nominations and won 11 Oscars.
ben hur ,titanic & LOTR won the most
all about eve & titanic most noms
The maximum number of Oscars that a movie has got up till now is 11. There are three movies that have won maximum number of Oscars. These are:
- Ben Hur in 1959
- Titanic in 1997
- The Lord of the Rings - 2003
19 is the theoretical maximum. There are 24 Oscars currently awarded, but a movie would be ineligible for the three short film categories (live-action, animated and documentary) and could, almost certainly, only win one of Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Screenplay and Best Documentary.
However, to achieve this total, it'd have to be a foreign-language animated film - and so far, only one ENGLISH-language animated film has ever been nominated for Best Picture: Beauty and the Beast in 1991. Plus I don't think any actor or actress has been nominated for their work in an animated feature. A foreign-language live-action film could win 18, though no film has ever won Best Picture *and* Best Foreign Language Picture). For a live-action movie in English, 17 would be the most possible.
The record number of wins actually gained so far is 11, most recently by 'LOTR: The Return of the King'. The most nominations is 14, by 'Titanic' and 'All About Eve'.
