    Airtel Network Down In Mumbai

GSM service provider Bharti Airtel's network in Mumbai has been disrupted in certain parts of Mumbai, owing to a short circuit. Subscribers of Airtel in Mumbai are facing the issue since morning, with their mobile phones flashing the "Emergency Calls Only" message, leaving them with no network to make calls. However Airtel officials stated that "There has been a fire at Peninsula Chambers, Lower Parel, Mumbai, in the facility area of the building due to a short circuit in the power cables that belong to the power supplier. This has resulted in a temporary disruption in power supply, which has impacted our network services in some areas of Mumbai. However, we are confident of restoring the situation to normalcy soon." Accordingly how long the network issue would last is very difficult to estimate & some parts of the south moumbai & certain susburbs are facing this problem with their network as per Airtel officials.

    Airtel network down in Mumbai

GSM service provider Bharti Airtel's network in Mumbai has been disrupted in certain parts of Mumbai, owing to a short circuit. The short circuit resulted in failure of certain equipment, which had to be switched off.

When contacted a company spokesperson admitted that certain equipment has to be shut down due to a short circuit. She said that Parel in central Mumbai and adjoining areas were affected.

The network would be up and running in the next 45 minutes, she added.

However, according to users on Airtel network, certain places in Western and Eastern suburbs of the city were affected. The network was down for the last couple of hours, they alleged.

Airtel Office building in central Mumbai catches fire

MUMBAI (Reuters) - A fire broke out in the basement of a building in central Mumbai on Friday due to a suspected electrical short circuit, fire service officials said.

Smoke billowed from the basement of Peninsula Chambers, in Peninsula Corporate Park in Lower Parel.

Three firemen said there were no injuries as nobody was present in the basement when the fire broke out in the early hours, before office workers began arriving.

"The fire is under control," said a fireman, who declined to give his name as he was not authorised to talk to the media.

Police smashed glass windows and pumped in water to douse the fire while onlookers gathered on the sidewalks.

The building houses offices of Bharti Airtel, advertising firm JWT and law firm Amarchand Mangaldas.
