Norton Realtime scan is not accurate to catch malware

I just noticed a few thing in Norton Antivirus. I have the 2014 edition installed on my pc. I use torrent sites and lots of free download. It is my work to find fake and spam tool and report them on a site. When u download stuff Norton does not seems to be doing anything. Like if I download a torrent file and it has a malware or keygen type of thing Norton remains quiet on the same. It does not even detect any problem. I thought Norton would be aggressive and it will simply wipe out that threat. But it remains silent.

There might be nothing on that file due to which Norton does not popup any kind of message. It is good if you can try checking the settings once. Just go in that and verify the same. You will find a lot of information through this. When you open any infected file Norton will scan that. If it find the file safe then it will not give you any popup message, but if there is any error or issue in that the popup will appear on the screen. Norton might directly delete the file without telling you. This happens in my system all the time.

I am using Norton and it works really fine. There might be no virus. If you are still doubtful then you can use a online scanner. There are few good online scanners which take time but are good enough to check your files and will give you report in the end that your system has a virus or not. And you can then get rid of the same. Check for trend micro online scan. Scan your pc in safe mode and sit aside. This will take time but it will work nicely and will give you more accurate result.

If you think the antivirus is not effective or not giving you proper output then you can remove it and install it back again. That will help you in fixing the issue. You can uninstall that and install it back with. You have to once again update the antivirus to latest one and done. It will work. Just before re-installing use a good bootable antivirus and scan your system. If there is any file then it will be removed. Bootable antivirus are effective and they delete the file. Then you can add Norton.

The problem can be due to improper settings. You have to check the same once to resolve the issue. You can go in the setting and try finding out the problem. This will help you in dealing with the problem. Usually it never happens that the antivirus will stop locating the threat. There are some online file analyzer. You can upload the suspicious file on that and find out whether it really has a antivirus or not. There are many popular antivirus available that offer you this solution.
