How can I find what is the max Ethernet speed I am getting on Mac pc

I want a bit help to find out how can I check the maximum speed of my lan on mac pc. On windows you just have to move the mouse on the network icon and that shows up the max speed. I want a bit help here to find out the same thing on mac but I am unable to locate the same. I am trying to transfer a 2GB file from mac to windows pc which is taking really long time. The maximum time showed up for the transfer is more than 30 minutes.

You can find that through network utility. A application available in mac through which you can get all the details about your mac stuff. Like the ip address and other connectivity details. Just click on the info tab and in that type network utility. Check under Link speed. Most of the time this is 100mb/s. The max speed. But if you are getting slow then there can be some issue. If you are trying to transfer the same through lan port then change the cable and check.

I had gone through this problem when I was trying to do the same on wifi. And mostly on mac the speed was very low. But the same thing is fast on lan network. So here you have to change the cable and see. I am quiet sure the issue is with the cable. It might be old or not proper due to which the speed is affected. Also use a good file transfer utility that will help you more in resolving the problem.
