How to hide hostname from router

I am using a Linksys router and I have found out that when ever I am connecting to the router then my computer's hostname appears with the mac address as well. I was just wondering how do we make it disappear completely so that this information doesnt get displayed. Does anyone have any solution for this issue? Thanks.

I think that you can use a software called Technitium MAC Address Changer that allows you to change Media Access Control (MAC) of your Network Interface card (NIC) irrespective to your NIC manufacturer or its driver. It features a very simple user interface and provides plenty of information on each card in the machine. Download it by searcing on the internet and check if it works for you.

No matter what you do, the mac address should be recognizable always even if you change it or the hostname in your computer. If you were using linux then you can change the mac address by typing this in the command box edit /etc/conf.d/hostname and then running ifconfig wlan0 hw ether 1A:2B:3C:4D:5E:6F. You can also have to delete the logs yourself in the router always.

If you want to hide your Computer Name from displaying in Network, then go to Start and then in the Search Bar type cmd and press enter. After that in the command prompt you need to type the following letter and then press enter - Net config server /hidden:yes. After that you will get a message that the command is completed and its done.
