    Is 802.11ac really very fast?

I wanted to know if the 802.11ac will be faster or good to use. There was news that soon 802.11ac will be available for creating networks. But I wanted to know if it will be compatible with normal PCI-e slots or USB ports. I don’t have much idea about hardware, but I would like to use 802.11ac. Can someone provide me details of 802.11ac?

The concept of 802.11ac is just in the drafting and designing stage. No one has officially started using the 802.11ac network. It can be used in the home network or the office kind of closed area, but let me tell you that expecting it to be of high speed will prove you wrong. It will be having transfer speed higher than 802.11n, but cannot be called as high speed network. We had tried using it in our office and it was a success. But one thing that we noticed was that it was really inconsistent. We played video using the 802.11ac network and it would suddenly play the video for a minute or so and then go in a long period of buffering.

At present 802.11ac is not widely available and so there is very less hardware available that will support it. I and my friend tried to use it for streaming video. I think that it is good and can be used if developed properly. There are routers and the connectors available for 802.11ac, but they are expensive and they are incompatible with other networks. So if you are interested in using 802.11ac, then I’d say that you should wait for some period of time and then when it is developed you can start using it. Also the firmwares of the modems are not developed to handle a 5 GHz frequency band.

You can try using ASUS RT-AC66U Dual-Band Wireless AC 1750 router which will provide you a good connection with the 802.11ac network. Also this router will provide you a good connection and it will also maintain the stability of the network. I think you should buy this router for better use of the 802.11ac network. This router will also provide you with wireless network that can be used to connect to Wi-Fi enabled devices.
