Basically telnet is the protocol for the network and it is used on the WAN or LAN, means it is used for the bidirectional communication using as a virtual communication. So I guess you got the what exactly telnet means or what is the use of the telnet.

If you want to use the telnet or want to know how does the telnety works and what is the port number of the telnet then try to follow some of the steps :-

    1. To open the telnet fist go to the start button and open the run window
    2. In that try to type cmd and press enter
    3. Now you will see the command prompt will open and type telnet press enter
    4. So if you are want to try the telnet then you should know what is your remote mail server and if you are working then for this you have opportunity to know about this correctly
    5. Now try to type the RemoteMailServer 25 in the telnet
    6. It will show your organization mail server mailhost.edu or something like that
    7. Now after this you can try passing the message like “hello” or anything you want to write and enjoy the following
