GPRS(General Packet Radio Service) is mobile internet service for 2G or 3G data receiving on GSM. GPRS comes with every SIM. And the same company provides settings to use internet in GPRS enabled phone. Service could be either 2G or 3G based on the facility of phone. Company charges based on the data used and can buy unlimited package also with validity. Speed will be depend on phone as well plan and if you are using 2G then the speed is often so low but if you are using 3G then it boost speed to very high.

Wi-fi is a mechanism, which connect the device without wire. Normally it comes with range within which it provides connection to devices such as PCs, laptops, smart phones, Tablets and other devices which are having connectivity facility with wi-fi. Here too you have to give charges for data according the plan.

GPRS and wi-fi both you can use with mobile phone if your phone is having the facility to use it. Normally phones come with GPRS facility but only smart phone is having wi-fi connectivity facility. Advantage with wi-fi is that you can use it with PCs, Laptops, Tablets, Mobile Phones, TVs and all other devices which support wi-fi and can access internet in a faster speed than GPRS. It is a wireless connection and has a range of approx 100 meter.

GPRS is more reliable than wi-fi, if you are having a smart phone and 3G facility then it is even faster than your normal wi-fi connection. But it is expensive than wi-fi. And if are using 2G then it is cheaper than but speed is so slow. Where wi-fi, you can use it with many devices with a better speed than normal GPRS speed and it will costs you some more bucks than of GPRS. But if you are using wi-fi with 3G then charges will be very high but the speed is a high level experience.
