    simple connection to modem?

    hello,

Have recently signed up to dodo internet and tried using my old modem (netgear DSG 2000) to connect.
I used to use dodo on this modem till january this year. they connected the service yesterday.
Have connected the cables as i used to use it. line-splitter-into modem. ethernet port into laptop (tho is wireless and used to also use wireless).

    PROBLEM:
turn on modem and dsl light comes on but internet light is red.
old network shows up, password prompted, input password, network dissapears..
try logging into the modem on internet, wont let me due to no internet connection.

Can anyone advise what im doing wrong?

What i think is that if you can ping using ip addresses but your browser is not working then it is generally a dns problem on your laptop, to fix this issue follow the below steps

    1. First of all make sure the dns & secondary dns addresses have been configured in your modem/router (your ISP should have given you the details) save to flash & reboot then.
    2. After that configure your laptop's dns with the same address as your dg, (the same address as your router).
