first you have to make sure that you have installed the required drivers in your computer. Because if the drivers is missing from your computer then you will not be able to access the http://192.168.1.1. if you have already installed all the required drivers in your computer then you should try to open http://192.168.1.1 from different browser and after that check whether you are able to open that or not. I hope after that you will not get any problem.

According to me you should follow this solution to solve this. First you have to disconnect your Linksys WRT54G router from your computer and after removing hat you have to confirm that computer is set for the DHCP.

after making sure that you have to go to the start menu and after that you have to click on the run (if you are using windows xp) or click on the start menu search box (windows vista, 7) and after that you have to type CMD there. Now after that you have to type IP and then press enter button. Now after that you have to check about the default gateway. the default gateway should be 192.168.1.1. now after that you have to type ipconfig/release to release the IP and after that you have to type ipconfig/renew which will renew the IP. now after doing that you should get the 4 replies when you ping the default gateway. after that problem will get solved.

If the above solution does not help you to solve this issue then you have to set the IP adress and DNS servers automatically in your TCP/IP properties and after that you will not get any issue. try this solution and aftr that let me know. What the result is.

If you want to set the IP address and DNS servers automatically then you have to follow these steps.
    • Right click on the local area network icon.
    • After that you have to click on the properties.
    • After that you have to select the TCP/IP.
    • after that you have to click on the properties and there you have to first select the obtain an IP address automatically.

after that you have to select the DNS servers automatically and it is done.

If you are facing the same problem after referring the above solution then I will suggest you to uninstall the Linksys WRT54G drivers from your computer and after that you have to insert the drivers CD of the Linksys WRT54G router again in your computer and after that install the drivers and restart the computer. after that check whether you are able to visit the http://192.168.1.1 or not?

You can also try to solve this issue by resetting the Linksys WRT54G router. First reset the router with the help of the reset button and after resetting the router you have to check that whether you are getting the same issue or not.

The problem might be with the network connection settings.

If you go to the Device Manager and expand the Network adapters. Look for the network adapter that you use, then right click and select Properties.

Next select the Advanced tab, then select AdHoc 11n.
If the value there reads "Disable" then change it to "Enable" and click OK.
NOTE:This will restart your network connection, so make sure you are not in the middle of downloading.

You should be able to access the router at 192.168.1.1
