OfficeScan 10.5 Update Patch for Wild Card usage

Trend Micro OfficeScan provides comprehensive protection against viruses, worms, Trojans, spyware, rootkits, Web threats and other malicious programs. It protects servers, desktops and mobile clients running Windows operating system. The OfficeScan server distributes the software and all updates to the clients. Mobile clients can purchase outside the LAN the updates directly from the Trend Micro Active Update servers. The ports are partly dependent on the configuration or whether a function is activated. The "Client_LocalServer_Port" will be awarded during each server installation as random.

By means of OfficeScan put in "fo*" (otherwise "fo?" while the extension length is for all time 3 letters) to the realtimescan scan prohibiting by extension. To the degree that I am familiar with, ServerProtect does not hold up wildcards.

As a new server with Windows Server 2008 R2 was purchased I decided to install the OfficeScan 10.5 version on the new server and then, as described in the installation instructions, the clients simply move to the new server. Well, unfortunately it does not work as expected. The installation went smoothly from the OfficeScan 10.5 on the server; the web interface has been improved and offers several new features. Unfortunately, only works to move the client does not, nothing happens. On a contact to the support department of TrendMicro brought no success, because until now they have simply not yet reported to my problem.

I have Trend Micro OfficeScan installed and the clients get their updates from there. Now I have installed here the first time a client that is connected via Site to Site VPN into the company. The installation was easy, even if it lasted very long, because when you install about 100MB transferred. Unfortunately, the updates do not work. First, seems as if it would run. The client connects to the server and then a window appears with the message: All the settings are downloaded. In the network connection I can see that packets are transmitted. After a few seconds the error message: The server is not reachable. Please contact the administrator.

With you if OfficeScan version 7.3 is available and the client firewall is enabled, I would ClientFW off. The only problem is preparing. Unfortunately, even with the pattern update. The problems go far, fly to the fly compounds from the stack. This leaves open files on servers. Sessions are not properly disconnected, etc, etc. Supposedly there will be a patch for this version already (2.1). With this, the problems should be solved with the ClientFW. However, we have not recorded Nocht him. Therefore, I cannot say whether it helps patch.

Two vulnerabilities have been discovered in Trend Micro OfficeScan product. These vulnerabilities are the result of poor management of memory modules by Wizard.exe and CgiRemoteInstall.exe. These errors can be exploited by a malicious user to execute arbitrary code remotely. The attacker, however, must be genuine to exploit this vulnerability.

Updates from the Trend Micro OfficeScan I installed in the past on many occasions and each time there were actually problems. Only from Version 7 to 8, it went fairly smoothly. But since we in good faith, I installed the update on the server, it hung about 100 clients on it. The installation or the update actually went pretty smoothly from the program has recognized that there is an update has taken over all licensing data and after about 20 minutes was the update. But then the chaos began. Short 2 minutes of installing phoned the early adopters, you would have received a message from Trend Micro OfficeScan, which the TrendMicro has encountered a problem and must be stopped. Apparently the server has distributed equally among all active clients to update and you can have many of the described problems.
