Hi all,
Our proxy server is Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP2.
It is not virtualised.
There is a teamed NIC.
On this server we have Microsoft ISA Server 2006 Standard Edition acting as the proxy.
The problem I have:
Our nightly backups are not completing as the ISA Server Control service is not stopping.
This locks certain files preventing them from being backed up.
To stop the ISA Server Control service the Microsoft Firewall service needs to be stopped.
The moment I stop this service the network loses all connection to the server and I have to use the KVM to restart it.
How can I stop the firewall service without losing connection to the server?
Do I lose connection owing to a config within the ISA Server?
Trying to read around the matter is leading me in circles.
I am not sure if RRAS, a teamed NIC, ipnat.sys etc play a role or play none at all in this problem.
I am hoping someone has seen this before and can lead me in the right direction please?
And for all I know there is a windows 2003 update that has solved this type of problem...but....I need to fully backup the server as I need to apply over a 100 important updates (I have recently inherited the task of managing the network and the previous administrator did not regularly apply updates).
I cannot apply the updates until I have a completely backed up copy of the server owing to an IT policy we have regarding updates.
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
JP
