    Testing Norton 2012

I assume that some of you have already chosen to check the beta discharge of Norton 2012. As far as I know that first of all the testing process starts from the installation of the software. I hope that you have already tried it out. If anyone has already started the testing phase of this software then I urge you to post their day by day result on this thread so that it can help other testers also. I am going to start this from my side today itself.

Tested on Windows 7, Magdeburg (Service Pack 1, 32 and 64 bit) and XP (SP3). All options remain on the default settings. The programs had any time to obtain updates or to retrieve cloud services. The results for both products are identical to the various Windows versions. For the detection of WildList collection from 3216 viruses and worms, there have been no dropouts. The extensive collection of nearly 145 000 pest viruses, worms and Trojan horses of all kinds has recognized Norton 2012 to 98.87 percent. This is measured by the industry average of 97.71 percent, a good result.

In terms of performance security software pushes back on the Tube: While the beta is already running 20 percent faster than version 2011, the pace-lead, according to Symantec to release will double again in the fall. When downloading files from Norton 2012 not only informed about their safety but also about the stability. The rating ranges from "reliable" to "very unstable". This is to warn the user against possible early PC brakes. The stability classification is based on anonymous data collected on the Norton request.

The detection of rootkits was also better than average. Fourteen of the sixteen rootkits (87.5%) were found and removed. Average score on this part scanners 56%. Symantec was previously known for delaying products, but AV-Test found that both scanners work very quickly and the speed after the first scan is around 85-90%. Furthermore, the scanners gave no false positives, and they knew during the last test, dynamic detection, to perform well. The virus lab AV-Test has both Norton AntiVirus and Internet Security 2012 has already undergone a first test. With a detection rate of 98.87 percent in conventional samples of malware protection appears again at the high level of the predecessor to lie. Of the 31 sites recognized the dangerous module SafeWeb 30 - a very good value. Only recognized the rootkit software included in this test is not reliable enough.
