Upgrade NB5200 media server to new version

Our entire environment is based on 7.1 version on the other hand, the new NB5200 appliance is scheduled as 7.0.1.5. As per the support page for NB5200, the latest patch level available is 1.1.0.2. The version provided on the appliance is also 1.1.0.2. So my question is that is it likely to upgrade NB5200 to the Netbackup 7.1? Well I don’t know about this but need replies for this issue.

Hey buddy even I am not sure about this but I think an update for NB5200 to 7.1 will be offered soon. As per my knowledge media servers are compatible with NetBackup 7.1. Well I know that you are currently using 7.0.1 version but I think NB5200 will work with 7.1 masters. But I don’t think so that some features such as A.I.R will work with it unless the update is released. Well you can just check it out for this.

You can try some points such as opening the FW ports like 10082 or 10102 or 1556 as well as push the DNS resolution backward or forward if it is ineffective and then edit the host file. Also be sure that the clients are running on 7.0.1 version or less since you have problems with the clients running on 7.1 which are not supportable. You can try this and I hope this works.

Well I think the code with 7.1 will be available in this June or July month. Well I don’t know the exact date but you can figure it out. I hope that this version really bring some amazing updates. Thus at the current moment, you can use FC built in the appliance to send the data to tape the devices. You cannot use tape device to store daily backups for 5200 as the target. But as I have heard about the latest release, this functionality will be available in this version.

Netbackup 5200 is not only a backup which is set up on x64 hardware. They are basically the appliance precise components that make a media server turn key solution with embedded deduplication. There are also updates that are available to bundle up the infrastructure mechanism. I think they are workin on it to release appliance updates nearer to the NetBackup updates. You will know this as soon as the updates get released.
