How can i retrieve result from bprd ?

Hey hi, I have some issues regarding the backups, I have NBU 6.5.6 HP-UX ia64 11.23 Master, media server. And I get the error message saying "Error bpbrm(pid=2818) Can't retrieve result from bprd" when keeping up backups of our new Exchange 2007 installation. And when we do backup or perhaps restore to RSG it is successful, then what will be the problem in the new Exchange 2007. Any suggestion will be appreciated.

According to me you are getting these error because of the logged files, that you have kept in the system where you are trying to install backups of our new Exchange 2007 installation. The media server that you are using that generally cause such a error if they found any such wrong log entry in the system, I would say you should first delete all the LOG files from the system and then try to keep backup.

I hope you are ware, but I’d like to say that the media server you are using functions like, whenever you do anything regarding that it make a report in terms of LOG, and because of that you’re getting these error, I would like to suggest you that you can delete those files and then try, otherwise I’d say post bpbrm log from media server that is actually reporting the error, then I would get the actual problem and you’ll get the actual solution.

I think you might getting this error due to the week connection with the media server, I mean to say that, there might be some problem regarding the synchronizing with the sever, and because of that only you’re not able to keep the backup, I’d say first of check all the settings in the server and ensure that it is made correctly. And then try to install make a backup copy of the exchange 2007 installation.

This error will be displayed whenever the client failed to send its Bare Metal Restore (BMR) configuration to the NetBackup (NBU) Master Server. This is occurs when the file 'bmrsavecfg' failed to run. Or it might be possible that it could be an operating system (OS) release that is currently not supported by the BMR process, you should try the same using the different operating system from the different machine.

I was having the same problem, and it was because of the is insufficient detail in the log, I am not sure that It would be the same problem, you should try to increase the debug level and then retry the same operation, to increase the debug level, run the mentioned command, vxlogcfg -a --prodid 51216 --orgid 121 -s DebugLevel=5, as soon as you set this retry the backup of the client from the master server.

If you are still having the same problem, that’s the root is still not available, then I would like to suggest you that you should contact the Symantec Support staff. But remember one thing that when you contact them, first of all make sure that you have all the reports that is generated during these process, because you need to submit all the details of the LOG files.
