    Information about HP StorageWorks P4300

I just came to know that HP StorageWorks P4300 is good option for SAN storage system. But I am not having enough information about it. I have just checked that in magazine and am very curious to know about it. I am sure that it should be having nodes, but not aware of the format. So, it would be good if you provide some notes about it. I am waiting for your responses, so please respond soon.

The storage systems are now under the name HP P4000 in the HP StorageWorks portfolio integrated memory. As a basis for a test provided us with an HP StorageWorks P4300 available. This Starter system includes two pre-installed storage nodes in a 19-inch format. With the help of a cluster operating companies can hedge against losses. The capacity of the storage system can be expanded gradually. Each of the two-P4300 StorageWorks storage node includes an HP ProLiant server the G6 generation. Inside there are two Intel Xeon E5520 CPUs with four cores and a clock speed of 2.27 GHz. The systems were also with 4 GB RAM and three network interfaces provided. A power connector is for the HP iLO Management Interface reserved. Using iLO (integrated Lights Out) accesses the administrator of the distance to the systems.

Since the boxes are pre-installed, configuration steps are limited to the first in the allocation of IP addresses. To this end, a screen and keyboard are provided. More is not necessary at this point. HP has the storage system functions as a backup feature. The hedging done this on several levels. Individual nodes by hardware RAID protected. The cross-protection across multiple nodes is done by a patented network-Raid (nraid). This ensures against failures. The failure of a node has no impact on the availability of the data. All these features put in the pre-installed management software, SAN / IQ. This is based on a Red Hat Linux . The eight SAS disks, each with 450 GB result in RAID 5 array , a net capacity of approximately 2.8 TB.

These values relate to each a box. The P4300 StorageWorks storage system, however, should always be used in the cluster. At a minimum, to two boxes are needed. If more space is required, the administrator simply packaged to another box. The calibration of the system is made by SAN / IQ over an IP route. By separating the nodes into spatially separate zones, companies can also protect the site. About cluster , it is possible failure of one or more appliances to prevent. To manage the storage systems, HP provides a Windows -based management software . This is clearly structured to help online manuals and assistant, if necessary.

Most of the administrative work is accomplished safely without the expert guides. Anyone with the concepts of IP-based storage systems are familiar, will find their way quickly. One difference between a simple iSCSI Storage and StorageWorks network consists Nevertheless, as the appliances protect each other, a cluster must be established. Also to be offered assistance. Setup is happening fast. The main points to the nodes that make up the cluster, and an administrative name.
