    Voice quality in VoIP

I have recently started learning about the VoIP. Voice over IP, making phone calls via data packets, has been established both for consumer and in many companies. But keeping that in mid, the market offers solutions ranging from small office to complex enterprise infrastructures to multinational corporations. The biggest advantage of VoIP is the digital combination of voice and data and the associated advanced features of this technology, telephony does not reach the standard. These all are features for optimizing voice quality and reducing electricity costs. But I want to know about the voice quality in VoIP. I hope that some of the members hanging out here, must be knowing about it.

In addition to network operators looking to reduce costs compared to circuit-switched networks, and companies are increasingly turning to VoIP. They have recognized the benefits and make their phone infrastructure to gradually now. This, however, their employees after their first VoIP call does not return early days of telephony in the back feel, while there are a few things to consider. In addition to a good voice quality should include a high availability of digital voice communication must be ensured. In addition, VoIP also offers the possibility of electricity costs in this area to reduce significantly. There are several factors that influence the quality of a voice connection in a data network. The most important are sufficient bandwidth and very low latency. Basically a phone call must have a data network at all times sufficient bandwidth is available. Here, for example help to reserve a minimum bandwidth for VoIP and prioritization functions in the network switches, such as Class of Service (CoS), Port priority, service priority and IEEE 802.1p support. Companies should therefore already the introduction of VoIP Before that their network infrastructure, the identification of voice packets allowed to be quality-of-service mechanisms ) in the switches voice data priority over less time-critical data such as e-mails to give to QoS.

Another important factor is the delay in the transmission of data packets, also called network packet delay or latency. He describes the time it takes for a data packet to travel from its start point by the network to its destination. Each station on the way - such as switches, routers and firewalls - as well as the length of the path itself increase this value. Here, the devices of different manufacturers differ greatly, so that you should give when selecting components of the load-dependent latency special attention. Also contributes to the latency of the so-called jitter. This refers to the variance of the duration of data packets from sender to receiver. To counteract large fluctuations, there is jitter buffer in the voice applications. This even though the packet flow, but add additional latency of the compound itself. The ITU-T (International Telecommunication Union) recommends a one-way, including the delay caused by the terminal latency of up to 150ms.

Another opportunity for enterprises, their IT costs by using VoIP to cut with, provides the energy supply for IP phones with Power over Ethernet (PoE). Because typically consume PoE phones seven days a week for 24 hours of power, even for those offices only about eight hours on working days used to be a when. network switches with a smart operating system can-here energy managers advance to the by VoIP phones such as nights and weekends away from the power supply. In an environment with hundreds of phones can thus already achieved significant bottom-line savings. Does the switch operating system also offers open interfaces to the outside, can the power management of network components also integrate into third party systems.

If you couple such as the successful time management at the company's input to the network switch, so this could start work on the phone as soon as the respective employee enters the house. It leaves at lunch or after work, driving the switch to the phone down again. Prioritization functions, as well as the lowest possible latency for production companies should be high on the list for their network switches to ensure good voice quality. Maximum cost savings to bring the devices when they also optimize the power consumption of the network.

Network operators and service providers to build IP-based voice communications continuing to spread. You not only address the professional user, but also to private users. Even with the PABX system providers now include VoIP systems in its portfolio standard. The most important criterion in choosing a VoIP system is voice quality. It should pay particular attention to technical standards, required bandwidth and related services and services will be added. In addition, technology offers the VoIP infrastructure, especially with large loads of potential cost savings through intelligent power management.
