Workstations cannot access internet using SRX5308 router

I have got a desktop system , I have installed Windows xp on it and my system is quite old . I started a side business of share market , so for that reason I had to take the internet connection. So I did, I took an unlimited plan of Airtel Broadband service . The service is quite good but my Netgear router is not. I had an old netgear538 router , but due to its bad performance , I purchased a new Netgear SRX5308, it to worked nice for a month or so. But after that it too started showing its ill performance. I do not know why but my work station could not access the internet service . Has anyone ever faced this type of issue before , if you have then please do inform me about it so that I cab too access the network efficiently.

It seems to be very weird issue , you mentioned that you had replaced the Netgear 538 router with the new one, but were you facing the same issue with that too , that is why you changed the router ,if it is so then the issue may not be with the router, but I am not sure about it . Can you explain a bit more how exactly your workstations cannot access the internet service . Please post your reply back.

All right I will explain the whole scenario in detail.
    • Every so often some workstations on the internet will get slow internet access while I can work on other things at normal speed
    • Sometime a few workstations on the network do not get any sort of network access at all.
    • After changing the browser configuration and rebooting I cannot access anything .
    • On a few occasion it seems that workstation on the internet will not will not get any access at all5. A few workstations on the network have the access on the net but later on it cuts off and this happens at random interval of time.

As you said that you are having the access on the internet normally , but your workstations do not have access on the internet , it seems that you should establish your system in a DMZ setup. I Think it will work fine , if you have plugged any cable in the port of DMZ then I think you will face this kind of issue, so I just wanted to know that does you have normal access on the internet when you unplug the cable from the DMZ port?

I think you are facing a routing issue on your workstation , because it seems that it seems that your router is giving much more preference to your VPN NIC during the incorrect time instead it should prefer some other. To check is it really happening you can use the tracert command to check the path and the number of hope counts . You have to simply type tracert in the console and name of any site.

Well I reckon that your system is attempting to create and configure two different routes Windows unluckily does not allow to do this . You have not mentioned that you are using any other operating system to access the network. If you really need to accomplish this task you will have to configure a default route and possibly in which the Internet facing side)and a commercial route for the remaining interface with the rest of the network it can reach.
