    WSUS Compatibility

I can not find any info on the compatibility of WSUS 3.0 on a Windows server 2003 with service pack 2, all the prerequisites are all about Windows Server 2003 with SP 1. Can you confirm that SP 2 does not have a problem with the version of wsus. Also at the database by default installs WSUS and this base is limited to 2 GB it seems. How To further adding to his stature? Thank you.

    Re: WSUS Compatibility

The best way to configure Automatic Updates depends on your network environment. In an Active Directory environment, you can use a GPO from Active Directory group. In a non-Active Directory, use the GPO Local Group. Whether you use the GPO Local Group Policy object or a group stored on a domain controller, you must point your client computers to the WSUS server, then configure Automatic Updates. The following instructions assume that your network runs Active Directory. They also assume that you have configured the group policy, as you know and you use it to manage your network. You must create a new object of Group Policy settings for WSUS, then the link at the domain level.
    * Load the WSUS Administrative Template
    * Configure Automatic Updates
    * To point client computers to the WSUS server
    * Manually initiate detection on the client computer

    2. Menu Action, Click Add / Remove Templates.
    3. Click Add.
    4. In the dialog box Policy Templates, Type wuau.admThen click Open.
    5. In the dialog box Add / Remove Templates, Click Close.
To configure the behavior of Automatic Updates
    1. In the Object Editor Group Policy, expand Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates and Windows ComponentsThen click Windows Update.
    2. In the details pane, double-click Configuring the Automatic Updates service.

To point the client computer to the WSUS server
    1. In the Object Editor Group Policy, expand Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates and Windows ComponentsThen click Windows Update.
    2. In the details pane, double-click Specify the location of the intranet service Microsoft Update.
    3. Click EnabledAnd type the HTTP URL of the WSUS server in the areas Configure the Intranet Update for detecting updates and Set the intranet statistics server. For example, type http:// servername in both areas.
    4. Click OK.
After configuring a client computer, takes a while before it appears in the page Computers WSUS console. For client computers configured with an object in Active Directory Group Policy, about 20 minutes are required after updating the group policy (that is to say the time it applies the new settings to the computer customer). By default, Group Policy is refreshed in the background every 90 minutes, with a random offset between 0 and 30 minutes. To refresh Group Policy sooner, open a command prompt on the client computer and type: gpupdate / force.

Follow the step by step installation default, then click the page Option database, Made one of the following choices:
    * On a Windows 2003 server, select Option Installing SQL Desktop Engine (Windows) on this server.
    * If you're installing WSUS on a server Windows Server 2000 server, select Use server database exists on this server. Then choose from the dropdown list the name of the department which corresponds and click Next.
For the rest of the installation on the page: Site Selection, choose Create a Web site Microsoft Windows Server Update Services, The console will use WSUS a different site and port 8530. In effect, you must specify this option because the site of SUS is when with him, always active on the site by default. Regarding the following steps, refer to the step.
Once installation is complete, you will configure WSUS so that the server has the same configuration as that of your SUS server: Languages downloads and other options that you configure. Re: WSUS Compatibility

WSUS 3.0 SP2 can be installed as an in-place upgrade from earlier versions of WSUS and will preserve all of your settings and approvals. The user interface is compatible between WSUS 3.0 SP1 and SP2 on the client and the server. Stability and reliability fixes for the WSUS server, such as support for IPV6 addresses greater than 40 characters. The approval dialog now sorts computer groups alphabetically by group name. Computer status report sorting icons are now functional in x64 environments. A new release of Windows Update Agent is included with WSUS 3.0 SP2 that provides improvements and fixes, such as support for APIs called by non-local system callers in a non-interactive session.
