Workgroup between Vista & XP

Hi,
I am trying to join a workgroup between a XP and Vista computer. Both are in the same workgroup and I can see both computers from either computer. However, when I try to share files (or do anything), I receive a prompt for user name and password. However, I do not have a password set for a workgroup. I have tried all I know to do including changing the user name of both computers and passwords to be identical. I still get the same prompt, but when I enter the computer username and password, it doesn't accept it. Any way to turn off this prompt or any advice as to what I should do would be appreciated.

You can try the below method in your Vista computer:

- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click System and Maintenance
- Click Administrative Tools
- Double-Click Local Security Policy
- In the left pane, click the triangle next to Local Policy
- In the left pane, click Security Options
- In the right pane near the bottom, double-click "Network security: LAN
manager authentication level"
- Click the drop-down box, and click "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session
security if negotiated"
- Click OK
- Restart the computer
