Setting up Server 2003 as Web Server

    Hello,
I have three computers and on one of them I would like to install a Windows server 2003 and setup it as a web server. Now , I have no idea how to install a windows server 2003 and what are the other softwares required to setup a web server and also thier configuration. Also, what are the features of the Windows server 2003 and is it a good operating system? Any more information will help me. Thank you.

You will have to install and configure (Apache + Php + Mysql) for setting up an web server. Not only the installation but also the configuration of each software that you will ultimately have a web server (Apache) is important, that supports the language PHP and provided with a database server (mysql). Configuration is done almost entirely by GUI files except for the httpd.conf Apache and php.ini, need to modify with a text editor.

If you are going to instal Windows Server 2003 then you can install the Web edition. Windows Server 2003 Web Edition is optimized for the implementation of web solutions. It can be used both by providers of Internet services by organizations that have chosen to host their own web servers. This edition is a particularly appropriate platform for the development and rapid deployment of services and Web applications.

Alternatively you can also use windows 2003 Server with Internet Information Server to create a web server. The configuration enables web server testing purposes on a test server or a laptop set up. This configuration is not a template for a production server on the intranet, Internet or Extranet than thought. Certain security measures necessary to protect public access servers are not included because this would blow up for such assistance under it. The configuration of Web servers is up to the system administrator and is not explicitly covered.
