    Problem with router's UPNP functions

In a broadband router to share Internet access, in order to be able to share the faster transmission speeds, we sometimes need to enable the router's UPNP functions (Universal Plug and Play function), may I ask how, under WinXP, this feature is enabled correctly up?

Re: Problem with router's UPNP functions

At present, the emerging broadband router UPNP functions have good support, but the default settings, WinXP system does not support UPNP functions, for which we often need to manually install the feature component. Of course, before the installation, first in the IE browser's address bar, enter the router's IP address into the management of its Web page, the page to find the router's UPNP options to see whether this option has been " activation ", if not, set it to" Enable ". Here, then open the WinXP system, the "Add or Remove Programs" interface, which continue to click "Add / Remove Windows Components" button, then select "Web Service" option, and click the "Details" button, and then re - the "Universal Plug and Play" project is selected. Restart the computer system, open the My Network Places window, to see whether there were any broadband router's "shadow", if any, on that WinXP has enabled UPNP function correctly.

Thanks for the reply but I need information on to this problem. There are five office computers through the sharing of ADSL broadband access to the Internet way, in these computers in the Internet, we found that some pages can not be opened; but the Internet through dial-up or green, we found that these pages can all be open, do not know why is there such a phenomenon?

In this phenomenon, most likely when the ADSL broadband Internet access, the use of the PPPoE agreement "provoke" the disaster. As the PPPoE protocol for each packet sent or received some restrictions on size, once beyond this limit (maximum transmission unit only for 1500), may lead to network access not normal. In order to avoid sending or receiving data packets size too large, you have to right TCP packet maximum transmission unit values for some restrictions.
For example, if the LAN workstations using Win2000 system, then you can expand the registry branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ Tcpip \ Parameters \ Interfaces (shown in Figure 1), and then in the corresponding "Interfaces" the right of the child primary key window, right-click a blank area, and in turn the implementation of the shortcut menu in the "New" / "DWORD value" command, and the name of the new key value is set to "MTU", then its value is set to "1490" ( In the decimal below). If through the above settings, still can not correctly access the Web, we can consider revising the "MTU", its value may be smaller to try to change.

LAN between workstations, each transmission is common for things to share files; however, many people share files in transit, often it was the first to open the other workstations, shared folders, shared files and then copied to the local each other's shared folder, if the other shared folder "hiding" in the words of more layers, this approach is undoubtedly very cumbersome. Is there a faster way to do that transfer shares, and if so, how to achieve it?

You can use the Windows system, the "Send To" feature to achieve faster share files to send operation. Here the writer's to Win2000 system as an example, to describe the specific implementation steps: First, open the Explorer window, followed by clicking the window's "Tools" / "Folder" option to enter into the "View" tab page, select the "Show hidden files and folders" option, and then click the click "OK" button, "sendto" folder; and then followed by Expand "documents and settings", "username", "sendto" folder; then open the "My Network Places" window will be each other's shared folder shortcut icons directly drag into the "sendto" folder window. After a local file you want to be quickly sent to the other shared folders, you can right-click the target file, the shortcut from the pop-up menu to perform "Send To" command, and the subsequent lower-level menu, select the other side of the shared folder shortcut icon, so that your target file can be quickly transferred to the other side of the computer.
