Move files to a NAS from Mac OS X

    Hello,

Small quick question about using a NAS from Mac OS. If I move a file to my NAS from a computer running Windows, it works without problem but not with a mac, the system does not move the files, but rejects.

I tried unsuccessfully to connect to my NAS ftp and samba.

    What is the way?

    Thanks

In the Finder, You must hold the "alt" (option) move on to another volume (external drive, network server, ...) instead of duplicating. Anecdotally, conversely, the key "option" maintained while moving on the same disc duplicates files, instead of moving them.

Sorry i made mistake while explaining :

This is not a shift from my hard drive to my local NAS.

The problem is a shift from the tree of my NAS drive to that same drive NAS but in a different folder.

If you've tested since Finder FTP is "normal" to have concerns: the Finder can not write (even with the proper log / pass). You can try with a real FTP client (even as a free CyberDuck should).

In Samba, the shift should move well. The behavior you describe is as if you were read-only in the source folder, or if the Finder saw two different volumes (source and destination of the copy) ...

I suppose that the NAS does not offer AFP as the protocol of network share? You went to see the support site of manufacturer, if the problem is known and if the manufacturer or other users have found how to solve it?

Effectively since FTP software CyberDuck style, it works well. I would have preferred to do the same thing since the finder, since the management of the tree with CyberDuck impractical.

    Thank you

Thereafter, to support more complete (writing) of the FTP in the Finder, you can try MacFUSE : Macfusion is an open source Mac application that allows you to work with files on servers across the internet, as if they were sitting on your computer. Macfusion presents a Volume in Finder, letting you use your favorite Mac applications to work with them.
