Portable Tools for Network Analysis and Diagnostics

    Hi all,

I am a network specialist in one company. Our network structured is small with a limited connectivity. I am using Windows system commands for network issue, but this is limited and more hectic to use. I want to use some portable tools that work as Network Analysis and Diagnostics, but have no idea. Please suggest something. Thanks in advance.

You can use Angry IP Scanner that allows you scan a network for all hosts as well as also identify open ports to find security holes. It can also identify Mac addresses and host names of the machines. This tool is very portable for finding what machine is using the same host name or IP address on your network. You can free download Angry IP Scanner from the website. Best of luck.

I am also using Angry IP Scanner for my network. Its process is also easy that i can simply copy the EXE file out of the zip to my memory stick and run it. Once i run it i will see this screen that allows me to specify what i want to scan for. I can also customize the fields that scans such as Host name, IP, net bios info and much more. Its interface is also user friendly and easy to use. I can also track the information about DNS or DHCP servers around my network. Best of luck.

WinPcap is also a best solution for network monitoring. It also captured packets of data. You need to go to Capture > interface to choose what you want to capture. You can also filter individually by network adapter. It scan and query everything from one easy to use console. It also cover Telnet, Ping, Traceroute, Whois, DNS resolver, MAC address getter, IP address scanner, view TCP/UDP/ICMP from console commands. Try it . Best of luck.
