Does virus infection is possible due to codec

    Hi,
Recently I had visited to an website. To play a audio, the website asked for a codec upgrade. I though this might be something essential for Windows 7 or Media Player 11. So clicked on continue. My antivirus popped up a warning denoting my PC is infected. I want to know how a virus enters a system. Codecs are needed for a system so are they too a part of it. Thanks in advance.

Issues that seem obvious, but are not necessarily for many beginners in the field of computing. Viruses are a major issue today. You can find them all over the internet. They are designed and submitted in the from of self replicating package. So the once they are executed they run automatically and tries to harm your system. Codec are sometime false and creates problem in your system.

Today, these programs are a source of income and means are different. They are like mass attack (DDOS) from hijacked PCs, posts advertising mail from hijacked computers (spam), display advertising (popup), spammers with fake security software (rogue), flight data, passwords, serial numbers for software , redirecting to fraudulent websites (phishing), blackmail (ransom ware), etc.

Most infections have to be discreet in order to stay as long as possible in their hosts. One might suspect an infection in the case of displaying popups or suspicious activity by system or Internet connection. The virus name applied to a very specific family of infection rather malware will use a broader term. We speak also of crimeware on the basis of fraudulent actions of these applications.

In the very large majority of cases the user himself who unwittingly invites the unwanted companions by excessive confidence. Simply by running programs downloaded. In addition, some sites intentionally poorly designed can exploit the flaws, the vulnerabilities of your computer or your software. This sites becomes an easy target of the same. So this cause the virus issue.

Thy are the cracks and keygens, false codecs, free Software, rogues, rogue security software, navigating sites at high risk of infection and attachments to instant messaging.
