To troubleshoot NAT activity. NAT is typically used to allow a small organization users accessing the Internet. NAT works well to allow Internet access for smaller networks that are not addressed. When the client computers using NAT to access the Internet, the internal IP address of the client computers are assigned to an external IP address. In addition, the private IP address must map the appropriate port for the protocol to the external port to the same protocol.

To the LAN interfaces and its other interface to the Internet has to be added to the NAT routing protocol. Every interface must be configured to use the proper configuration. In the NAT / Basic Firewall tab of the personal interface of properties, personal interface connected to personal network option under the interface type area of the tab must be selected. When troubleshooting of NAT activity, check that the correct packet filters are selected options. These settings are also arranged using the NAT / Basic Firewall tab of the interface of personal property. To open the Inbound Filters dialog box, click Inbound Filters button.

In the NAT / Basic Firewall tab of the other interface of the properties, the Enable NAT on this interface box must be selected so that the NAT protocol internal map can direct requests to the other interface. To access the NAT / Basic Firewall tab of the other interface, first you have to open the Routing and Remote Access console then expand the NAT / Basic Firewall node and you have to right-click interface adapter External LAN connection and select Properties from the shortcut menu.

Re: How to troubleshoot NAT activity

To troubleshoot NAT activity want to block other Internet access to the personal network, select the Enable a basic firewall on this interface box. Then you can check the assignments from clients in the NAT Network Address Translation Mappings Table. In the NAT / Basic Firewall pane of the RRAS console, just right click on the interface. You can see IP, TCP and UDP information by right-clicking the interface in the General pane of the RRAS console. You can also use the Netstat utility to view assignments from clients, and to determine which process or application is the owner of a particular connection.
