There are several software to remove spyware, but none are really perfect. It is best to use several to benefit from their complementarity. The most easy to use and best known is probably Ad-Aware. This spyware is published by Lavasoft in paid version and freeware version. First download the free version and install it. Once installation is complete, the software offers to make an update and a full scan of your system.

Once the scan is started, you have to weight a little because it will probably take between ten minutes and half an hour, depending on how many files and the speed of your PC. Ad-Aware will scan the computer memory, the registry of windows, and disk full. The software then you will know if he has found cookies on your system. If you surf long, and you've never done scanning, there are great chances that there have tens or even hundreds.

The Microsoft antispyware is very effective and fairly easy to use. In addition, it includes a utility for real-time protection, which monitors the software and lets you allow or deny changes in certain parts of the registry (eg if a program will be launched when Windows starts) and access to certain resources, such as a modem that can be used by spyware type dialer to make remote calls and costly without your knowledge.

You can download Spybot S & D from the site safer-networking. The principle is the same as for the other two, you install it and you run a scan (do not forget to update). At the end of the scan, Spybot tells you what he found, and you can put these in quarantine spyware and remove them. Under Windows XP, Spybot will create a restore point in case of system or cause removal of spyware problems.
