    Asynchronous Socket Error 10053 issue

I had been running Windows Xp on my machine. Now the problem is that I started getting the message, Asynchronous Socket Error 10053. It uses a FTP connection on the I Series to move the data. So, can any one tell me that how do i resolve Asynchronous Socket Error 10053 issue? I use software called RPGsp on my XP professional PC to write web pages that uses our information on the I Series main frame, that is using version 5.4. Any one knows about it? Kindly help me out to resolve the above issue. Thanks.

Re: Asynchronous Socket Error 10053 issue

Many users have been reporting frequent random 10053 disconnect problems during DCC. This seems to be an issue primarily with winXP and occasionally win2k. Winsock error 10053 used to be usually related to network problems, not software. This is no longer the case thanks to anti-virus software that arguably tries to be smarter than it should be.

Re: Asynchronous Socket Error 10053 issue

10053 is a winsock error with the description "Software caused connection abort." Another point of clarification, the connected socket can send data perfectly fine, it is only when data is sent to it, and the receive function called that the socket actually closes. Definitely only for advanced users, though there is a program that can change MTU settings for ADSL users without having to muck around in 'the guts' called Dr TCP which can be at this place. I would, as you said, recommend that either the user be familiar with this sort of thing or consult someone that does first.

Did you get any help with your socket error 10053, error number Ox800CCCO0fF? I'm also going to change my NIC card, but since I ran the utility above for XP and reset the winsock, I haven't seen this error at all. Windows XP does not have NVIDIA or Checksum. Turned off NIS thinking maybe it was a firewall problem but still the error message 10053 when attempting to send e-mail.
