Vpn error 741 in Windows vista

    hi,

I've been trying to establish a VPN connection to our server SBS2k3 Vista Business PC. I am getting error 741. I saw some updates, but they are versions for Vista x64. I have been reading many blogs and forums, but I can not seem to find the solution.

Typically, these error messages appear in one of the following situations.
    1. Unplug the power cord.
    2. Disable modem.
    3. Modem drivers are corrupted.
    4. Your computer is infected with spyware, which prevents the connection.
    5. Should restore interface Winsock.
    6. Connection firewall software is blocking third-party.

To remove error 741, try to reinstall the modem and the drivers from Device Manager
To perform these steps, you may need to download the latest driver for your network adapter from the hardware manufacturer.
    1. Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
    2. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager, and then locate Network Adapters.
    3. Expand Network adapters and right click the icon for your network adapter.
    4. Click Remove, and then click OK. In the dialog box prompts you to remove the files associated with this device, click Yes.
    5. Restart the computer or the Action menu, click Scan for hardware changes.
    6. If Windows finds the device but can not recognize it, you must install the latest driver for your network adapter.

    Try Resetting the modem
    1. Disconnect the cable connecting the modem to the computer.
    2. Turn off the modem. If the modem does not have a power switch, unplug it from the power source.
    3. Wait two minutes.
    4. Turn on the modem, then connect the cable connecting the modem to the computer.

When attempting a virtual private network (VPN) based on the Memorandum of Point to Point Tunneling (PPTP) to a VPN server computer, you receive error code 741. This behavior occurs on a Windows Vista. To avoid this behavior, you must set the encryption settings on the computer server and the client computer :

    Configure the VPN server computer
To configure encryption on the VPN server computer, follow these steps:
    • Click Start, select Programs, Administrative Tools, then click Routing and Remote Access.
    • Expand servername (local) and click Remote Access Policies.
    • In the right pane, double-click the Server Connections Routing and Remote Access Microsoft.
    • Click Edit profile in the Encryption tab.
    • Check the highest encryption security (MPPE 128 bit), and then click OK twice.
    • In the Services, restart the Routing and Remote Access.

    Configure the client computer
To configure encryption on the client computer, follow these steps:
    • Click Start and then select Connect.
    • Right-click or right-click the VPN connection and select Properties.

To provide support encryption levels of 40 and 56 bits on a client computer with Windows Vista, you must configure the registry entry AllowPPTPWeakCrypto. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and type regedit in the Start Search box.
    2. In the list of search results, right-click regedit, right-click, select Run as administrator, and then click Continue in the dialog box User Account Control.
    3. Locate the following registry subkey and click on it:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan\Parameters
    4. Create the following registry entry under the previous subkey. If this entry already exists, modify it so it appears as follows:
    Name: AllowPPTPWeakCrypto
    Value type: DWORD
    Value data: 1
    5. Exit the Registry Editor.
    6. Restart the computer.
