This can be useful to exchange files between any positions in business or at home. Imagine yourself with a network of 10 PCs and file a particularly large installation you want to install on each workstation. Sharing the file will allow you not to download it manually on every post, but on one computer, then share it. There are different ways to share files in Windows XP. Or simply, is using advanced settings to restrict permissions. we are going to see the steps and the methods of file sharing.

Simple File Sharing. Sharing Simple File Sharing mode enabled by default. Note that Windows XP Home is the only mode that is available. It lets you share globally for the entire group working files in a directory without any restrictions or password. Take care that you do not share files confidential could see that some users on your network. The first thing to do to use the simple file sharing is to tell the system that you want to use this method of sharing.

If this option is not already enabled, open your desktop then click on the Tools menu and click the option "Folder Options" as follows: Here check "Use simple file sharing (recommended)" if not already done then click "OK". Then, move the directory you want to share then click the option "Sharing and Security ... as below. If this is the first time you do this it is normal that you see this message "If you are aware of security risks .." and you must also click on it as shown.

You have a window like below, we will not use the wizard, then select "Just enable file sharing" then click "OK". You can also choose whether to allow network users to edit files (not recommended). To indicate that the file is a shared folder is a small hand. In this your folder is shared and visible across your network.

In Advanced file sharing. The division made is only available on Windows XP Pro and above set permissions for specific users, user groups or to set a maximum number of authorized users to access them. Access to shared resources is here for user identification. Unlike simple file sharing and of course you need to unchecked the option "Use simple file sharing" in Folder Options. Right click on the folder and then selecting "Sharing and Security" will give you this time now. To share the folder you just check the button "Share this folder".

The original name of the file will be entered by default you can very simply change the share name, this does not change the name of your file. You can now set a maximum number of users authorized by checking. Let's check the permissions to define access permissions to this folder on the network, click on "Permissions" giving you a window like this. Note that the authorizations you need a user account with the same name on each item wishing to access the share. If an identical account (with the same password) exists on the remote machine, used by the user, it will not need to enter their password to access the share.

One last important thing I have not specified so far: The working of your PC on the network must have the same name on all your posts for the sharing works. If you had to edit a day to check on your machines that you have the same group. To do this right click on your desktop then click Properties. So check that you have the same work group on your machine if not change it. Conclusion of the tutorial. I hope this tutorial you will have served for many people for whom this was not very clear, I hope that you will have cleared up since it was the goal here. File sharing is something very practical business or even home in your small home network.
