Windows Defender Error 0x80004005

Hi

When I run windows defender, It shows some items that I should remove, When I ask Windows defender to remove them, I get error code 0x80004005 and the message that Windows defender is unable remove them. I went ahead but it came back with message error 0x80004005. This has happened many times.Any ideas?

There are reasons, but first some questions:

Is your XP genuine and validated? Do you run a proxy? Any malware / virus that has recently scanned? Do you have a good network connection or is irregular or problems from the ISP side?

A typical warning is 0x80004005 indicating that they have no connection to the Internet (although you may have) because the update service is having trouble establishing two way communication with perfect Microsoft servers.

Error 0x80004005 is preventing Windows from accurately checking the license for this computer. To resolve this error: Press F8 to start your pc in "Safe Mode". Then go to Start> Run and type:%systemroot%\system32 then press the Enter Button. Locate these two files and Wpa.bak Wpa.dbl. Rename the file and wpaold.dbl Wpa.dbl for Wpa.bak to wpaold.bak. Restart your computer in normal mode. The same error number may occur during installation and/or updates.

Please follow these steps for assistance:

Step 1 is to run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012, then click the Windows tab, click the "Copy" button, then paste the report into a response in this thread.

Step 2 is to look on the computer or with the materials you received with the computer or with Windows to see if you have a Certificate of Authenticty (COA). If you have one, tell us about the COA. Tell us:

1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center, or another version of Windows?

2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
