Metal, cordless phone and high power supply will interfere with your router's wireless signals. Make user that router distance is large. DD-WRT firmware update for wireless routers can turn the device into a signal repeater that extends your current network's range.
To convert your wireless router as repeater you need to change the ip address of router. Disable the router’s DHCP server, Turn off the DNS server, Disable firewall > Save the settings as necessary on each page, and reboot the router.
Wireless routers can broadcast on several different channels, similar to the way radio stations use different channels. Try changing your wireless router's channel through your router's configuration page to see if your signal strength improves. You don't need to change your computer's configuration, because it'll automatically detect the new channel.
