How make SMTP server more Secure

    Hi,
I have Microsoft Exchange server 2003 at my office. Recently in a log file I had discovered some unwanted connections via my SMTP connection. I have equipped my server with security features. But still what are more new options that can help to make the SMTP more secure. What are the setting practice usually to keep the server secure. Thanks in advance.

You can restrict access to your SMTP server requires authentication, which restricts access based on IP address, or both. Restrict access using the tab of the SMTP virtual server properties dialog box. Access tab has five major adjustments related to security: authentication, certificate, communication, connection, and retransmission. Anonymous access does not require users to enter a username and password. This option is intended for servers that accept mail from outside the network.
