Avast ashsimpl.exe problem in task manager

This process takes in 40-60% of my CPU, so I can work quite hard.avast auto scan is not working to scan, what I find strange now is i have completed avast avast icon bottom right and this process continues to consume so much. If I use task manager to end this process, I get the message "access denied", so as not succeed. Since I'm testing something, it is almost impossible to give my PC a reboot, so please can any one help me to solve ?
    thank you

i had also same problem i right click on the logo of avasti, and then Stop by Access Protection but after 20 minutes of some work I got the message that avast is updated to new virus library and suddenly the problem is resolved. so you also try for update.

I think Avast or any anti virus consume 30 to 40 % of memory resources and i think that is common while under virus attack condition this memory usage can be increased so that computer may get slow.
