Change hostname with out fouling up network connection

    Hello all,

I would required to deal with this topic anybody know how to change the hostname without fouling up the network connection? All the posts I have google'd curbed of messing up the network connection if the hostname is altered, but I'm still not clear on the whole answer. Please don't hesitate to ask if I can provide more information, especially about the network connection.

    Thanks a lot

Hi there,As far as my learning we can't change the hostname after the completion of installation, ensure when you give the system parameters while installing SAP R/3, etc. and don't forget to set up the hostfile i.e., in drivers>etc>hosts.

Friend,Change /etc/hostname as you wish, then run the command
    #hostname <new_hostname>
and you should be comfortable to go ahead.no frustration about problems, unless you alter it from "ns1.google.com" to "non-existing"

I am, as you obviously can see, attempting to test if the computername is as expected. If not to set IP etc. and DNS. Where I have been guessing now is at the quates. Since netsh has Local Area Connection in " , but since I am working it with a shell I thought to alter them with, but it does not work.
