Linksys EZXS88W IP address ping request fails

We are using Linksys EZXS88W switch in our office. I connected all of my computers to this switch and everyone is working except my laptop. Each try gives me connection failed message. I even tried to ping the switch but got the message "Destination host unreachable" or "Request time-out". Can you tell me why does Linksys EZXS88W IP address ping request fails?

The problem lies with your gateway. When the gateway send ICMP echo-replies, it uses MAC address. The tcp can capture the ICMP echo request/reply packets but because of some problem it will not deliver the packets to the IP layer. The consequence is that pings failed. Check your cable connection and also the settings if everything is proper.

Re: Linksys EZXS88W IP address ping request fails

The Linksys EZXS88W is a switch and pinging a switch doesn't mean that your internet is up. You want to check the connection with the router. It is the router which holds the IP required by the ISP. If you can ping your router, then everything is normal but if not the then something is wrong. Call your network administrator and ask him to configure it properly. You can even consult it with Linksys support team.

Try pinging 127.0.0.1. It is basically a loopback address. If this works and you get a continuous reply then that means networking is properly installed on the machines. Then you can check out if your ISP has failed or some in between device has failed.
