How to allow TCP port 3389 on Windows Firewall

I am under Windows XP computer. I want to connect to a remote computer which is also using Windows XP. I tried to connect but was unable to do so. I got an error message saying remote connection is blocked by Windows Firewall. How can I allow port TCP port 3389 on Windows Firewall?

To use Remote Desktop to communicate with a remote computer, you must enable the predefined exception for Remote Desktop on the remote computer, which will dynamically allow incoming traffic on TCP port 3389.
    • On the remote computer, go to Control Panel, double click on "Windows Firewall"
    • Click on the Exceptions tab.
    • Check mark the "Remote Desktop" box.

You can even change the port that Remote Desktop listens on.

    1. Start Registry Editor.
    2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
    3. On the Edit menu, click Modify, and then click Decimal.
    4. Type a new port number, and then click OK.
    5. Quit Registry Editor and restart your computer.
