    [Emergency] Network suddenly crippled

My main machine is running on vista, since last night, all the network connections suddenly appears "limited connection". I tried repair, disable, renew ip and everything, none of them worked.
It is on auto acquire IP and gateway.

What might have caused this sudden cripple? I plugged the internet cable into my laptop and my laptop gets internet perfectly, so it must be something wrong with my main machine.

The only thing I can recall that I did before it happend was that I reboot into a linux live CD called BackTrack3, my friend gave me a copy of that and I tried to play around with it. But I was too rookie to understand most of the tools so I went back to Vista, and then the internet suddenly broke.....

Any ideas what might have caused it? Thanks

If your network connections says "limited connection", go through the following threads:
    Limited connection / Unidentified Network
    Limited connection, no internet

Try to reinstall the drivers for your ethernet card / lan card and see if the problem still persists?

You can also try to open a command prompt (Start ---> Run--> CMD) and type the following:

    Code:
    netsh winsock reset
Reset your computer, let me know if it has solved your problem.

Run the Microsoft patch (KB884020) for it.
on the other hand you can download a zip file
with the patch, registry file, and instructions by clicking here.

Get the patch from Microsoft's site and the update to install it
Type the following lines in Notepad and save the file as FixReg.reg on your desktop, then double click on it to install into your registry.
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\IPSec]
    "AssumeUDPEncapsulationContextOnSendRule"=dword:00000002
    restart your system
