How can I find my NIC manufacturer in Windows Vista laptop

I recently purchased HP laptop with Windows Vista installed. My problem is I am unable to connect to Internet, and Vista says I am lacking NIC card. But I already have that. I am assuming my laptop is lacking some drivers. But I don't know the manufacturer of my NIC card. It came alongwith the laptop. How can I install the drivers for an unknown NIC card ? Is it possible for me to know the manufacturer of the NIC card?

Well I suppose it should be mentioned somewhere in the specification of the laptop. You can find it out on HP's website and in fact you will also get the appropriate driver for your laptop. Just check it out on HP. If you find any further difficulty then do post back.

First find your MAC address of your NIC and then use this MAC address to find out the manufacturer.

To find MAC address of your NIC:
    1. Open the command prompt
    2. Type "ipconfig /all"
    3. Find the network adapter you want to know the MAC address of
    4. Locate the number next to Physical Address. This is nothing but your MAC address

Now use this MAC address and fill up "MAC Address or Vendor to look for: " field over here http://coffer.com/mac_find/ to know its manufacturer.

    1. You can read on the motherboard manual which network controller chip your motherboard uses and go to the chip manufacturer website to get support and updated drivers.

    2. You can simply take a look on your motherboard to see which network chip it uses and then go to the chip manufacturer website to get support.

    3. You can find out the network card manufacturer by providing its MAC address over here: http://curreedy.com/stu/nic/
