DHCP client lost in Windows Vista

I'm having a Dell laptop on which Windows Vista was preinstalled on it. The laptop is initially connected to our Domain, obtaining an automatically ip address. Some how during the day, the system went into hibernation and when it got resumed all the network/internet connection seems to be lost. After checking the services, it was found that DHCP Client had stopped working. Now, can any body help me out to get rid of the above issue? What can i do in order to get all the lost connection back on my system? Does any body knows about it? Kindly help me out to resolve the above issue.

When you wake a Windows Vista-based computer from sleep, the default gateway setting is lost. When you run the ipconfig /all command to view the IP configuration, you cannot see the default gateway setting.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

• The computer is configured as a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) client, and the computer is connected to a DHCP server.
• The DHCP server configures a scope together with options 3 and 249.
• The computer is included in this scope.

This problem occurs because Windows Vista-based DHCP client computers configure the gateway address first. Then, the computers add the IP address to the computer. Therefore, the gateway address is configured on the Windows Vista-based computer as if it is the address of another computer. When any network traffic must be sent to an off-link address, the Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is used to connect to the gateway address. However, because the gateway address is the IP address of the Windows Vista-based computer, a response is not sent for the ARP request. Therefore, the network traffic is dropped. After you resume a Windows Vista-based DHCP client computer from sleep or from hibernation, the computer may lose its IP address. This problem may occur if there is more than one network interface on the computer, such as a real network interface and a virtual private network (VPN) interface.

For example, consider the following scenario:

• On a Windows Vista-based DHCP client computer, you establish a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN connection to a remote VPN server.
• You disconnect the SSL VPN connection.
• You put the computer to sleep or into hibernation.
• You resume the computer from sleep or from hibernation.

In this scenario, the computer loses the IP address that was assigned to it by the DHCP server. Instead, an Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA) address, such as 169.254.0.1, is assigned to the client computer. Therefore, you cannot access some network resources.
