Be sure that TCP/IP is installed om your computer. If yes then run the below command from a DOS prompt :

    netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

When this is done restart your computer & try pinging 127.0.0.1 or the localhost. If that works, try pinging something like google.com.

TCP/IP stack repair options for Windows XP SP2.

Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt:

    • In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands:

      1. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, type: netsh int ip reset reset.log

      2. Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, type: netsh winsock reset catalog

      3. Reboot the machine.

Re: Unable TO Query Host Name

Try the following microsoft solution for this :

    LINK 1

    LINK 2

    OR

Turn off the firewall & Try if this does not fix it:

Open a cmd window and type IPCONFIG /ALL enter, and see if all the entries are correct. Then type IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS enter.

Check the TCP/IP settings for the nic, make sure that the DNS setting is correct and reachable.

If you are running ICS off of another system, reconfigure the ICS setup.
